Keswick hogs the top of the list, with 1,081 tickets on the Portinscale to Grange road alone. But six of our streets are in the top 20: Murray Road in Workington (283), Senhouse Street in Maryport (253), Strand Street in Whitehaven (249), Gray Street in Workington (248), Market Place in Whitehaven (231) and Upton Street in Workington (225).

Funny thing is, the street enforcement cost the council £959,885 last year and only brought in £680,387 in tickets.
At the meeting, Egremont councillor Sam Pollen said Sellafield parking was causing bother for residents, and said: "Inconsiderate parking is getting worse not better."
What you can do: if you're in a disc bay, set the disc and make sure it can be seen on the dash. If you think a ticket's wrong, challenge it with the council while you're still in the cheap period, and take photos of the signs, lines and your car. If they say no to a formal challenge, you can go to the Traffic Penalty Tribunal and it costs nowt.
