A man who used to live on Scotby Close has been jailed for 32 months. Antouel Margariti, 38, now of Warwick Road in London, admitted possession with intent to supply cocaine at Carlisle Crown Court on 11 August.

The Community Serious Organised Crime Unit arrested him on the morning of 10 July, as he went back to his car outside Greggs on Eastern Way. At the Scotby Close house they found a significant amount of cocaine in the bedroom, plus scales and packaging. They put the value at more than £27,000.

His phone had messages offering cocaine for sale and a list of people who owed him money. In interview he said he was "not involved in the sale or supply of drugs in any way" and that the drugs and the other items weren't his. He later admitted it in court.

DC James Bowness said they work every day, including with other forces, to find people supplying drugs in Cumbria — and that they got to this one quickly. If you think this is going on near you, report it online, ring 101, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. 999 if a crime is happening now.

It's Carlisle, not Workington or Whitehaven, but it's the same force.

A man who sought to supply Class A drugs in Carlisle has been jailed for 32 months.

Antouel Margariti, 38, of Warwick Road in London but previously of Scotby Close in Carlisle, was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court on 11 August after admitting possession with intent to supply cocaine.

He was arrested on the morning of 10 July 2026 as he returned to his vehicle outside Greggs on Eastern Way, after coming to the attention of the Constabulary's Community Serious Organised Crime Unit. Officers then searched the Scotby Close address and recovered a significant amount of cocaine, along with scales and packaging, from his bedroom. An assessment placed a value of more than £27,000 on the drugs.

A forensic search of his phone found messages offering cocaine for sale and a list of people who owed him money. In interview he refused to comment beyond an initial statement in which he told police "I am not involved in the sale or supply of drugs in any way", and denied that the drugs and other items belonged to him. He later admitted the charge at court.

Detective Constable James Bowness said: "Detectives are working every day, including with partner forces, to identify individuals and groups who are involved in the possession and supply of drugs in Cumbria." He said officers "were able to act quickly to arrest an individual who would subsequently admit involvement in the supply of Class A drugs in Carlisle - resulting in a significant custodial sentence today."
