Saturday's the big one: the Reds against Cleethorpes in the FA Trophy at Borough Park. Whitehaven AFC and Cleator Moor Celtic are on the road, and the rugby lads are all finished for the year.

This one's for anybody heading out to watch some local sport this weekend, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October. Everything's on Saturday, and the Storm Boelo wind warning doesn't start till 6pm, after the final whistles.

Workington AFC v Cleethorpes Town FA Trophy first round proper, 3pm, Fibrus Community Stadium (Borough Park). Win and you're in the next round, plus £3,000 prize money; the losers get £775. Billy Barr's battered squad have brought in Morecambe defender Adam Fairclough on loan this week.

Freckleton v Whitehaven AFC West Lancashire League Division One, 3pm, away at Freckleton. Whitehaven held the Division One leaders Stoneclough to a 1-1 draw last Saturday.

Hurst Green v Cleator Moor Celtic West Lancashire League Premier Division, 3pm, away at Hurst Green. Celtic will want to bounce back after losing 2-1 at home to Hesketh Bank last weekend.

Nowt on Workington Town and Whitehaven RLFC: off-season, both busy signing players for 2027. Amateur rugby league: Kells, Hensingham, Wath Brow Hornets and Egremont Rangers are all done for the year after going out in the play-offs. Saturday's National League Premier Division Grand Final, Hunslet ARLFC v West Hull at Wakefield, has no Cumbrian side in it. We couldn't find any fixtures for Seaton Rangers, Distington or Maryport.

What you can do: check the club's website or social pages on Saturday morning before setting off, in case the weather or a late change messes things up.
