Two men have been charged with attempted murder after a man in his 30s was badly hurt on Ewanrigg Lonning in Maryport on 16 October. Police want to hear from dog walkers and anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage.

This one's for folk in Maryport, and specially anybody who was near Ewanrigg Lonning on the Friday night, 16 October.

The police were called to Ewanrigg Lonning at about half six on 16 October after a man in his 30s was attacked, Cumbria Crack says. He was taken to hospital with serious head and internal injuries, and he's still in.

Scott McClure, 24, of Newlands Gardens, Workington, and Joshua Steele, 22, of Buttermere Road, Maryport, have both been charged with attempted murder. They were up at Workington Magistrates' Court on Monday 19 October and were remanded to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 19 November.

Being charged doesn't mean anybody's guilty. It's for the courts to decide, so don't post anything online that could get in the way of a fair trial.

Detective Constable Alexandra Todd said: "The incident occurred on a track behind a housing estate which is well used by local dog walkers. As such, we believe there may be other witnesses who were in the area at the time who may be able to assist with our investigation."

She added: "We would also ask anyone in the area who has doorbell footage to check it and anyone driving in the area at the time who has dashcam to review their footage."

What you can do: if you were about, or you've got doorbell or dashcam footage from around half six on 16 October, ring Cumbria Police on 101 or report it online at cumbria.police.uk/report-it, quoting incident 173 of 16 October. Or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
