The Reds' new shop in the Workington Innovation Centre on Central Way opens Saturday morning before the Cleethorpes game, and local lad Connor Mason has been brought in to drum up business backing.

This one's for Reds fans, and any local business that fancies getting behind the club.

Workington AFC are opening a new club shop this Saturday morning, before the FA Trophy game against Cleethorpes Town, Cumbria Crack says. It's in the new Workington Innovation Centre on Central Way, near Central Square, and it'll be full of club gear and souvenirs.

A club spokesman said: "The popular third kit is back in stock in all adult sizes and we will also focus on our winter range with the new Puffer jackets as well as gilets, hybrid jackets, hats and scarves all available." There's 10% off the Hope+Glory range, in stock or to pre-order, between 10am and noon, with other offers and some special guests too.

The club's also taken on Connor Mason in a brand new job as commercial development officer, a self-employed role. He did five years in the Merchant Navy, then the last 12 months in sales and property development. His job is to build up the club's links with businesses. The board says it wants to grow the Reds' name and bring in the extra money to match its hopes of climbing the football pyramid.

The club said: "Connor is based locally in Workington and his family are regular visitors to Reds games." It added that he "demonstrates real energy and ambition, just what the club needs to fulfil this crucial new role as we look forward to the development of our new stadium."

It's been a hard few weeks on the pitch, with that long injury list meaning Billy Barr has had to call up the young lads from the under-23s, but the Reds did come away from Bamber Bridge with a win last Saturday.

What you can do: get yourself down to the new shop on Saturday morning before the match, and if your business wants to sponsor the Reds, get in touch through the club's website.
