The play kit at Kells and Orgill is worn out and getting replaced. The council wants to know what you'd like there, and you've got until 5 November.

If your kids play at Kells or Orgill, this one's for you. The council says the kit's had its day and it's all getting replaced, with sturdier stuff and things that kids of all abilities can use.

Tell them what you'd like by Thursday 5 November. Search "Kells play area" or "Orgill play area" on consult.cumberland.gov.uk. Or pick up a paper form at Billy Bears, Sensory World Play or Haig Pit Bakehouse for Kells, and at the Market Hall or Egremont Library for Orgill.

They're asking the schools too. The wall and fence at Kells are being sorted separately.

Cumberland Council is replacing worn-out play equipment at Kells in Whitehaven and Orgill in Egremont, and wants residents' views by Thursday 5 November.

This is for families in Kells, Whitehaven, and Orgill, Egremont. The council says the equipment at both play areas has reached the end of its life and will be replaced with robust new equipment, including inclusive equipment where possible.

Two consultations opened on Monday 12 October and close on Thursday 5 November 2026. You can respond online at consult.cumberland.gov.uk/kells-play-area-whitehaven or consult.cumberland.gov.uk/orgill-play-area-egremont.

Paper copies for Kells are at Billy Bears Fun Centre, Sensory World Play Cumbria CIC and Haig Pit Bakehouse. For Orgill, they are at Egremont Town Council's Market Hall offices and Egremont Library. Council officers are also working with local schools.

The boundary wall and fencing at Kells will be renewed separately.
